Every facility named in these guides is there because the facility itself, or its municipality, published its tattoo policy. Each entry links to that page and shows the date we read it. Facilities whose pages say nothing are called "unconfirmed", not tattoo-friendly. That makes these lists shorter than a directory's and more useful at the counter.
The data behind these guides is published in Japanese at /tattoo-onsen/list.html: 112 facilities in 17 prefectures, 91 tattoo-OK and 21 cover-required, each with the source page and check date. Beppu (33), Tokyo (24) and the Kusatsu and Kinosaki town baths account for most of it.
Tattoo OK Map puts 10,470 onsen, sento and saunas across Japan on one map and marks each as tattoo-OK, cover-required or unconfirmed. The OK and cover labels come only from published policies, with the source URL and last check date on the entry. Five interface languages: English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
